Owned, self-hosted software gives you a defensible answer to the question every serious counterparty eventually asks: where does our data actually live, and who can reach it?

Independence is not the cheapest option in the first year. It is the option that compounds. Once a system is yours, it keeps serving you without rent, without a roadmap you do not control, and without a dependency you cannot inspect.
